I guess June must be visit the animals month at Scherzerville.
First we went the the Midnight Sun Festival where they had a petting zoo with goats, chickens, rabbits and ducks

We all stood in the long line for a pony ride. A bucket of chalk made the time go a little faster for the kids and John and I speculated about how much money the pony rides made (40,000 people attended the 12 hour festival!)

When we got to the front of the line we saw a 2-day old horse

finally Lincoln got his turn on the pony.

I took pictures while Shiloh waited with Daddy and shouted "cowboy!"

From a 3 year old boy's perspective the best part of the festival was the big army and fire trucks...

Next was a trip to Calypso Farm. It's a cooperative farm outside of Ester run by volunteers who are paid in a share of the vegetables grown. Parents as Teachers had a group visit there today and Lincoln and Shiloh got to visit the animals and learn about where milk and eggs and wool come from.

Luna the goat munched her food while she got milked

Lincoln learned how the sheep's wool is carded so it can be spun into yarn

It was rainy the whole time and we left early because Shiloh's lips were blue from cold but it was FUN!
