Back from Vacation

Yesterday was our first day back and work/preschool. At lunchtime the kids and I went by MickelDonals (as Lincoln calls it) for a treat. We took our picnic to the Peger street bridge. As we drove up we saw a huge congregation of ducks who swarmed our blue car as we emerged with our smelly french fries. We ran away!

We headed for the picnic tables where we could sit up high and be safe from the ducks. I had visions of them attacking us and stealing our food but luckily they lost interest and wandered into Pioneer Park. We enjoyed our health-free lunch and then headed off to school where the kids were excited to play with buddies.

Being back from vacation made me appreciate both how great John is at helping with the kids and how important it is to take a vacation every year!

Jersey Shore Vacation Part 2

After the initial rough landing we had a beautiful sunny time on Long Beach Island. We spent time at the beach every day playing in the water and building sand castles

We went to Fantasy Island and played carnival games one day

Ski ball was the best

and then back to the beach house to play with the toys we bought with the tickets we won

A time out for mini-golf and ice cream

then back to the beach

I'm sad that we're done with the beach but we have plenty of fun left. I love the multi-part vacation! Next is a few days at the Gythfeldts' house in Conneticut and one last Yankees game before they tear down Yankee Stadium.

Getting there is half the fun?

It's vacation time! We're heading off to the Jersey Shore for a week of sun and sand.

We should have been cleaning up the messy house 2 days before we left but instead we took time out for a Rock'M'Sock'M robots match and some stuffing our faces with cheerios.

Lincoln showed me his big muscles while we waited for our plane to leave

Superman was on our plane!

I sincerely hope that getting there is not half the fun. I'm hoping for more like 1/8th of the fun as airports are not fun places with preschoolers. On the plus side of getting there, Shiloh chose to throw up on John and not me during our descent into hurrican-y Newark! More sandy, sunny pictures later.

Happy Birthday John!

John turned 36 yesterday.

We here at Scherzerville know how blessed we are to enjoy his company every day. But we wanted to take this opportunity to share with the world (or at least the 4 of you that occassionally check out this blog - ha ha ha) some of his most excellent super-heroish qualities.

patient

fun!

tall

In addition to these qualities he also can:
* balance a spoon on almost any orifice when we go out to eat
* throw any of his 82 wiffle ball pitches on demand
* cook up a mean batch of chile
* clean the entire house in a single afternoon
* look good while doing all of the above

I love you John. Thanks for being you.

Cute August videos

Shiloh likes fudgesicles. She must also listen to the things I say because she mimics me when she holds conversations with herself

In case you couldn't understand what she was saying, here it is:
"No mess, Shiloh", "Sorry", "Big mess"
Lincoln is a helper. He insists on helping all the time. He did a great job helping John to paint our new picnic table
